Abstract

The article discusses the legal aspects of parentage of a child in the U.S. as of August 2012, focusing on the legal rights associated with children conceived through sexual intercourse and born to lesbian couples. The legal obligations and rights of both partners in a lesbian relationship are addressed in situations where one of the partners has become pregnant after having a sexual relationship with a man. The legal aspects of donor insemination and a lesbian pregnancy are also addressed.
