Description

Experiential Learning in a Global Context

How can we benefit from our international partnerships and network as far as experiential learning is concerned? Indeed, our European students are very often attracted by US Law Clinics, which provide hands-on-legal experience and allow them to gain a wide range of skills, from conducting legal research and writing to developing negotiating skills and collaborating with other students and attorneys. Law clinics have now begun to spread in European faculties, and IDEAC could be a chance to exchange views about our practices, goals and challenges, in order to improve our experiential learning and to offer more opportunities to our students.

Besides clinics, a lot of other experiential learning programs exist, such as Moot Court competitions, specialized seminars with participation to international committee sessions or audiences, organized travels…For sure, IDEAC should allow professors, lawyers, students and all the persons involved in experiential learning to share unique experiences.

Presenters:

Myriam Benlolo-Carabot, Professeure, Université Paris Ouest - Nanterre La Défense

Jennifer de Laurentiis, Associate Director of Impact Litigation and the Kovler Project Against Torture, American University Washington College of Law
