Abstract

Description: As part of Human Rights Month 2025, on Wednesday, June 5, the Washington College of Law hosted a panel titled “Current Challenges and Opportunities in the Inter-American Human Rights System.” The discussion addressed pressing issues such as uneven state commitment, case processing delays, challenges in implementing decisions, and the need to bolster the system’s legitimacy. The panel featured distinguished experts including Claudio Grossman, member of the UN International Law Commission and Dean Emeritus of AUWCL; Roberta Clarke, Commissioner at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (CIDH); Carlos Ayala, Chair of the Executive Committee of the International Commission of Jurists; Ciro Colombara, President of Fundación Amanu; and Viviana Krsticevic, Executive Director of CEJIL. The event took place in Room NT01 and provided a platform for deep analysis and institutional recommendations to strengthen the regional human rights framework.
