On Tuesday, April 3, American University Washington College of Law hosted a conference on Empowering Citizenship in our Shared Digital Future that was presented by the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program. The conference gathered a vibrant community of Humphrey Fellows from Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Philippines, Moldova, Cote d'Ivoire, Armenia, and Israel.
Among other topics, speakers discussed important issues such as digital security, politicization of social media, ensuring human rights in the online space and online gender based violence. The Fellows presented case studies from their countries. Cyber security in the context of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine was discussed in depth, as guest speakers Anton Korynevych and Olga Poiedynok from Taras Shevchenko National University of Ukraine shared their insights from the field.
